About Me
Lauren Fleniken is a painter from the small town of Montague, TX, and currently resides in the city of Denton. She works primarily with oil painting while incorporating other media in her work such as fabric and sculptural elements. She graduated Texas Christian University with her BFA in Painting in 2023, and has since been a working artist in the DFW metroplex. Fleniken is a current member of the Cedars Union, and was a member of Cohort 4. She has been featured in multiple shows with galleries such as 500x, Arts Fort Worth, Kettle Art, and Plush Gallery. She has previously been awarded Best in Show at the College Expo at 500x, which gained her her first solo show “are we alone now?” in the same space, and been awarded a Clare DeGoyler grant from the Dallas Museum of Art. She is currently working from her studio in the Tin District.
Fleniken’s work focuses on voyeurism and sexuality from a femme point of view. Through hyper-romantic scenery and figurative expression, she confronts a dialogue on exploitation of the feminine with a sense that you shouldn’t be looking.
